Interac Mobile Payment on Apple Pay Expiry

Members that use the Apple Pay digital wallet may have to re-add their card on or after December 31, 2024 due to an expiring token.
When a member adds their debit card to a digital wallet, that card is provided a randomly generated token number for that device so that when you use the digital wallet, it communicates the token number vs. the real card information. Each token has an expiry date that differs from the card expiry date.

Interac is updating the expiry date on the affected tokens for Apple Pay so there should be little to no impact for members. The token expiry fix is being applied to Apple devices running operating system iOS 17 or later.

If your device is operating with at least iOS 17 or you update your operating system, no further action is required.

If you cannot update to at least iOS 17, you will need to manually remove and re-add your debit card to your Apple Wallet, as your debit card token in the Apple Wallet will expire on December 31, 2024.

There is no impact to your physical card, it remains operational at all times.

We would like to apologize for the inconvenience as Interac works to restore this nation-wide impact.
