Shred Day is back for 2025 on April 26!
On Saturday, April 26 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. CDT, we invite Access Credit Union members and our local communities to bring their confidential documents for shredding to one of our two host branches.
While this shredding service is free to the community and our members, we will also be collecting cash and food donations for Harvest Manitoba with Access matching donations up to $5,000! Donations over $20 will receive a tax receipt from Harvest Manitoba. Refreshments will be provided.
Shred Day 2025 will be held at these branch locations:
- 1536 Regent Avenue West, Winnipeg
- 2800 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg

Frequently Asked Questions:
Will there be Shred Days in other communities?
We have many communities and try to cycle all our events as best we can. This year our Shred Events will be hosted at two Winnipeg locations (1536 Regent Ave West and 2800 Pembina Hwy). We realize these may not be convenient locations for everyone, but all members and folks from the community are welcome. We host many community events each year – stay tuned for updates of dates and locations here: Current Events
Do I have to take out my staples?
No you do not! There is no need to remove staples, paper clips, or rubber bands prior to shredding.
What can I shred?
Any paper documents that you do not require anymore such as bills and receipts, as well as any office paper or file folders of any colour. Remember: tax-related documentation must be retained for seven years!
Please note: You are responsible for the collection and disposal of any empty cardboard containers or plastic bins that were used to bring paper documents to the shred event.
What can’t I shred?
Cardboard, plastics, common trash, hazardous materials, CD’s, DVD’s, magnetic media, x-rays, as well as computers/electronics and accessories.
Who are the donations going to this year?
This year we are proud to support Harvest Manitoba, accepting cash and food donations on their behalf.
Is the shredding done on site?
Yes! Everything collected will be shredded before the trucks leave. You are more than welcome to stay and watch your documents be shredded live!
Will I get a tax receipt?
Donations over $20 will be provided a tax receipt by Harvest Manitoba, mailed in the weeks following the event. To be sent the receipt, donors will need to provide their full name, mailing address, phone number, and email address (if they prefer it sent electronically).
What happens if the shredding truck fills up completely?
If this occurs prior to the end time of the event, it will end the event. We are not given a second truck to continue shredding documents if the first one fills up.
